Below you will find a dozen questions that can help us establish whether ElectriFI financing might be suitable for your plans. It is not an application form. You are welcome to submit your preliminary information through electrifi@edfimc.eu. In case you have more questions, please check ElectriFI.org or contact us through the mentioned email address.

The questions below are not an official application form. They will help to get a first impression of your plans and to identify strengths and/or weaknesses of your plans. Your answers can be short for each question.

  1. Which is the company that intends to make the investment, manage it over time and – upon success – repay to ElectriFI?
  2. How many connections will get created with new or better access to energy? Is this individuals, households, small companies, please explain. Are the end clients in rural or other underserved areas?
  3. What type of (renewable) energy source will be developed?
  4. Who are the owners of the company that will make the investment in the emerging market? Is the company part of a larger group?
  5. What is the track record of the investors / investing company? Has it been active in this sector already? What are recent or relevant examples of experience in (rural) electrification?
  6. What is the financial position of the investors / investing company? What are some core numbers of total assets, equity, etc.
  7. Do you already have a business plan, with proper analysis and substantiation of the product(s), price(s) and competition? Financial sustainability (either achieved or foreseen) is an important aspect of the ElectriFI considerations.
  8. What is the total investment size and what financing is sought? ElectriFI finances only part of an investment. This means a substantial equity input (or other funding) is required. The minimum size investment we can consider is EUR 500.000 (only part of which would be ElectriFI). We expect most ElectriFI requests in the range of EUR 2-6 mln. Please also indicate what other funders (NGOs, Developmental, Commercial parties, etc.) you expect to get funding from.
  9. After ElectriFI, do you intend to scale your investments with help of other financiers?
  10. What non-financial support is sought? ElectriFI can help build and sustain business cases, always in form of advice to the investors or end clients. We cannot guarantee your success, but help you manage your business in the right direction.
  11. ESG topics. Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance topics are very important. The investment cannot be in an excluded sector. The investment should comply with all regular international (often Worldbank) guidelines on environmental issues, social aspects and corporate governance.
  12. Information and contact. Please indicate through what website we can learn more about your company and how we can contact you.

We look forward to your plans / questions.
